Aftershock

Wednesday 27 April 2011
The day after our exhibition.. I'm feeling quite pleased with how things went. Throughout the night more people turned up to have a look at our work, and I'm so proud of how everyone did.
Here are some pictures from the night of the pieces that were shown;Yvonne Williams

Freya Addey

Tom Beech

I felt that everyone's pieces were shown to a great standard, but was shocked to find today that part of Freya's work was taken (We later found out it was the cleaner). We had a good turn out last night and I was proud to be involved really.

Things to consider for next time;
1. Find a better quality printer. Since I am considering carrying on with digital work, I need to find a better place to print my work to a high standard.
2. Perhaps consider showing in a conventional gallery rather than an unconventional space like the Students Union. I went to see the Relationship show at the Liverpool Academy of Arts and it looked fantastic, made me want to show in a 'regular' gallery space. (They all produced amazing quality work, it looked great!)
3. Consider trying different sized prints way before exhibition deadline, and even frames for my work. I put this one down to bad time management on my part, so basically, I need to manage my time better, definitely need to for the third year.

Tonight's The Night

Tuesday 26 April 2011
So, as I write this, today is our exhibition night, I've printed off the three pieces I want to show and they're up on the wall, although I'm a little disappointed.
It's just the printed quality of the pictures really bothers me.. They look so much better on the computer, and part of me wonders if they should have just stayed on the computer.. First of all I got freaked out and printed them A2 rather than A1, and now I'm regretting that decision.. Ahh.. Why don't I listen to my better judgement, I just get so scared and back out.
Also the paper.. I'm freaking out about the paper.. It looks all crinkly on the wall.
Next time I'm definitely looking for a better quality print.

Student Union Exhibition Progress

Thursday 21 April 2011
So, I've been busy creating work for the exhibition we're trying to set up at the Students Union, today we went in again to check out our spaces, and I'm not sure anymore if I like the idea of using the cork boards in the corridors, as the type of piece I'm doing has changed.
I've decided basically.. As cheesy as it sounds.. To follow my heart.
My heart wasn't in the work I showed for the last assessment, I was sort of thinking too much about perhaps what everyone else wanted me to do rather than myself. I'm still going for a personal approach so the work will fit into the exhibition as it's mostly based on self-portraiture and tying it to my love for computer games. Above is a piece I've finished for the show, I'm showing three printed pieces, I want to print them off A1 size, but that prospect seems a bit scary to me now as I'm not sure how the prints will come out.
